GBECAM
GBECAM was founded on March 11th 2005 by a team of Brazilian oncologists who shared a profound interest and commitment in the studies of breast cancer. GBECAM is a non-profit and independent organization whose main objective is to implement and promote quality and ethical multi-institutional clinical trials on breast cancer in Brazil, as well as to implement and offer aid to clarifying and preventing educational programs about breast cancer. At present, GBECAM brings together 60 members (oncologists and breast surgeons). These members work as researchers and implement the group projects in their respective institutions (such as hospitals, universities and specialized clinics). GBECAM intends to integrate the entire country for the development of breast cancer clinical research and for that reason it has been affiliating, as its members, investigators who possess highly developed scientific and ethical abilities. The clinical trials conducted by GBECAM are previously selected to fulfill the needs of those carrying breast cancers and only then are they distributed among the affiliated institutions and investigators throughout the country. The studies are prepared and developed in partnership with the research and development areas of the pharmaceutical industry, international cooperative groups, such as BIG (Breast international Group), CIBOMA (Coalicion Iberoamericana De Investigacion En Oncología Mamaria) and by GBECAM itself through its members and scientific commission.
